FAQ

IS PALMER360 LICENSED & QUALIFIED TO OPERATE COMMERCIALLY?
Yes. Palmer360 has “permissions for aerial work” granted by the C.A.A. Palmer360 pilots have the R-PAS Qualification for flying unmanned aerial vehicles.

IS PALMER360 FULLY INSURED?
Yes. As long as palmer360 adhered to operating guidelines and rules laid out by the C.A.A. the company is fully insured and we also have £5 million public liability cover.

WHAT WEATHER CONDITIONS CAN’T YOU FLY IN?
Unfortunately, we cannot fly in the rain! Strong winds can also be a problem (especially if we are flying near to trees or other objects) however, we use the world’s smoothest camera gimbals available for our aircrafts which will secure very sturdy shots, however, safety of flying the rig is paramount.

CAN YOU FLY INDOORS?
Yes we can though naturally we require a fairly spacious room to fly in. When we operate indoors we are not subject to the rules and regulations placed upon us by the C.A.A. however a discussion needs to be had regarding insurance.

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE REQUIRED TO OPERATE THE EQUIPMENT?
Our rig requires between one and two operators. In the case where a two man operation is needed a qualified UAV pilot to fly the rig and a secondary camera operator who frames the shots.

HOW LONG CAN YOU FLY FOR?
Our aerial system can fly for up to around 10-12 minutes on a single battery (however we prefer to fly shorter runs as we don’t like to push batteries to their extremes), after which we need to land the system to change the power supply.

WILL PALMER360 TRAVEL TO WORK OUTSIDE THE UK?
Yes.

WHAT IS THE HEIGHT, RANGE & SPEED OF THE UAV?
Due to the conditions placed on unmanned aerial systems by the CAA, we are only permitted to fly up to 400ft high, however we can apply for extended heights on a job-by-job basis if flying higher is required. We can also fly out to 500m giving us a 1km radius and can if required fly at up to approximately 50km/ph and need line of sight with the UAV at all times.

HOW MUCH DOES THE SERVICE COST?
We price each job on an individual basis. Factors including the location, risk, amount of pre-shoot work required (such as site visits or obtaining special flying permissions, if required) will play a part. Prices available on a job –by-job basis.

We also offer full editing and film creation packages too.

ARE UAV’s BETTER THAN HELICOPTERS & TRACKING RAILS?
They get different result, however they are certainly much cheaper! Helicopters are loud and intrusive and cannot fly below 500ft. Our battery powered drones are relatively quiet and can fly much closer to the action giving a far more intimate view point. We can also get our multi-rotor up in the air quickly when action may be sporadic. Therefore you have access to aerial filming throughout the day rather than a specified small window of time with a helicopter.
